Deliverables

To create the UI of a web application that innovates in the hackathon sector, specifically with Web3.

My Experience

I have participated in two hackathons already. The first one was around a month and a half ago, the Polkadot: North America Edition Challenge. The second one was ETHGlobal México, here in my hometown, a few days ago. I love the shcema of how they are organized and put into action. So is there a really to create a decentralized hackathon platform?

The Problem

The idea of a decentralized hackathon platform came from wanting to see how I could improve the existing platforms, and make the whole experience smoother and more efficient. I noticed that there was a lot of room for improvement. For example, a user can loose its projects, progress and valuable achievements in case the site is disabled. The process of handling prizes to winners can become quite heavious, when it could be relaxing because of an automatic distribution of prizes via a smart contract. Having thought about this problems made me realize that this is what I wanted to develop.

The Goal

As I have mentioned previously, the problems can be solved with the correction ejecution. My goal is to have an effective website application that benefits the user into finding the desired competitions, while also being sure that his accomplishments will never have the risk of being lost.

Problems

⚠️ Users are vulnerable to data lose such as their progress and projects since they rely on the existence of the Hackathon platform.

⚠️ Hackathon application process can be subject to taking a long period of time.

⚠️ Transparency with handling and distribution of prizes to the Hackathon’s winners.

Goals

✅ Projects and user’s progress will stored in the blockchain without the risk of loosing valuable achievements.

✅ Efficient application process taken by a DAO and proof of funds method.

✅ Prizes distribution done transparently and efficiently with the use of an audited smart contract.

Key Metrics

🔑 Amount of hackathons and participants registered in them.

🔑 Time saved in prize management distribution.

Target Audience

🗣️ People who are interested in participating on Hackathons. Ages are on average between 18-32 years of age. The incredible thing about these competitions is that anyone from any age, gender, sex orientation, etc, can participate.
